Cricket for Older Readers

Two books of short stories – each story set in a different cricket-playing country – bring together a cast of characters, loosely linked by the theme of cricket. They reflect a lifetime passion for the game.
From the funeral of a native Australian to a robbery in Barbados, revenge in India and a sticky day at Lord’s, they feature as many twists and turns as a closely fought Test match.
These tales emerged from years of travelling to watch the game. The first story Bob Cattell wrote, Six, set in Afghanistan, was inspired by seeing the refugee camps in Pakistan during the original Taliban regime, and was written to support the charity, Afghan Connection. Others stories grew out of the history of the game, personal experiences – and some pure whimsy.

„Like a well-crafted innings” David Gower
„Written with a lightness of touch, which belies some occasionally dark themes” Wisden
